The various staff unions of the Prestigious Federal School of Surveying, Oyo, "...first
of its kind in Africa" have suspended their 43days old strike after a
congress held today Wednesday, 15th March, 2017 as against the previous notification published on the 30th of January, 2017 by the management which read thus;
"IMPORTANT!
This is to inform both the fresh and returning students
of Federal School of Surveying, Oyo that the resumption date for the
2016/2017 academic session slated for Monday 30th January 2017 has been
postponed indefinitely.
New date shall be communicated to you later.

The following conversation ensued between a Lecturer and our correspondence;
Correspondence: Sir! what was the conclusion of the just concluded congress?
Lecturer: "The strike is suspended and work resumes tomorrow 16-03-2017."
Lecturer: "The strike is suspended and work resumes tomorrow 16-03-2017."
Correspondence: Sir, is the suspension temporal? And as the agreement been met and all promises and outstanding debts fulfilled?
Lecturer: That's the language of unionism, strikes are suspended when demands are not fully met. It may be 1day or 10years.
Correspondence: OK.
Sir, we will be anticipating a memo from the school management to this effect as well as the calendar for the new session?
The Welfare Director standing in for the President of the Student Union Government SUG in person of Com. Ojoye Olukayode Emmanuel in His statement sends warm regards from the staple of the SUG secretariat and welcomed all students back to school and admonished the project students to resume back in earnest and added that the resumption of the freshers as well as the students in their final year we follow the project defense as all students are expected to comply with this directive by the school management.
He went further to assure all students that the students union government is in present negotiations with the management of the school concerning the sudden increment in school fees and pleaded that all students should not be in a haste in making payments until a memo stating otherwise from the SUG is published.
