The cry of a #Geo, here comes a voice seeking for a way forward out of the menace imposed on the students of the prestigious Company of Geomaticians caption "THE CALL MUST BE OBEY"
"THE CALL MUST BE OBEY
======================
Good morning my fellow students, it as come to my notice that some of us don't really understand the power that lies in our decision making and most especially as affecting the increment tuition fees.
We shouldn't fold our arms doing nothing to stop this unjustified increase in school fees. Let's kicked against the increment on the tuition fee as the SUG executives further appeals to management to be “more considerate in view of the state of the economy”. The SUG Executives as been negotiating with the management on the reduction of the imposed fees on behalf of the entire students which had led to a little reduction which is still not accepted by the students populace.
What I will like to see is a justifiable, affordable fee for us all...."
He implore the SUG to make a prompt decision before the imposed fees is effected.
The imposed fees has been known by all, as some termed it "extortion of the highest order" Yes! but the big question is "WHAT NEXT?"
Remember that besides the imposed tuition fee, other additional fees were excluded from the list, such as departmental fees, Association levy, SUG due, as well as the proposed accommodation fee of thirty thousand naira (#30,000.00).
As we awaits the Student Union Executives to come up with her decisions, we implore you to drop your comments to assist them in their decision making.
VOICE OUT! LET YOUR VOICE COUNT NOW! Its' hi-time we fight for our right!

It's really an extortion of the highest order and we won't just open our eyes and let this inhuman attitude continue. We will rise up and fight for our right collectively as a bona-fide students of this great institution. The school can not impose on us the amount to be paid because the school is a Federal Government Institution and the plan to hike the school fees is not from the government. Let's wait for the report of the excos before we embark on our next line of action. Thanks

DeleteGood day fellow #GEOs. education in this country is becoming thing that is reserved only for the rich. in recent time , the sector has witnessed incessant increase in fee ranging from tuition, hostel, accreditation, et cetera. Despite the hardship parents go through before they get ends met in terms paying school fees of their children, which is not unconnected to the economic doom being experienced in the country, most of these schools went ahead hiking the payable fees. There have been many unanswered questions in the mind of the Nigerian Students. These questions include but not limited to...
ReplyDeleteWhy are Students paying these high fees to gain Education?
Did our Leaders, RECTORS, Provosts and Vice Chancellors pay these high fees during their time?
What is the essence of having a school hostel?
Is hostel Accommodation not supposed to be the cheapest?
Why do we continue to spend funds on unnecessary things?
Why can’t we have free education in Nigeria?
How much will it cost for Nigerian to have free education?
Why can’t we re-introduce bursary and education grants?
It is in record that most of our Leaders acquired their higher education almost free. When they were in school there was bursary and grants and they utilised it. But nw they have continued to say no to bursary and grants. Is this not insensitivity? Why education be subsidised? Many nations that have oil go to school free and still pay them some grants. Does this country really want to grow? Why can’t we invest in education? Our nation will never develop if we don’t prioritise the Education sector. Human development should be the first. This is because when people are developed, they will develop their nation.
We are asking the Federal Government of Nigeria to overhaul the education sector. Our tertiary institutions should be well funded. Many schools are not structurally able to be called a tertiary institution. Our schools lack lecture halls, laboratories, workshops, Electricity and sporting facilities.
We are advising the Federal and state Governments to invest heavily on education now. They should make education free or affordable for the poor masses.
We are calling on the Government to investigate the following:
1. The issue of reckless increase in school fees in our schools
2. The issue of accreditations being paid by students
3. High cost of hostel accommodations in our schools
4. Acceptance fee issue
5. The issue of corruption rocking our tertiary institutions.
In Federal School of Surveying, Oyo; the conventional method has been the annual laconic increment of fees by token amounts. for example, in 2012, #4000 was paid as the acceptance fee; in 2013, #5000; in 2014, #10,000; the acceptance fee is #20,000. Whn these fees were being increased nothing was done to vert it. So, they increased the increment. In 2012 when i gained admission as an ND student, i needed less than #40,000 (accommodation inc.) to get myself settled to the ancient town of Oyo; in 2017, these good-for-nothing people are falsing an incoming ND student to need nothing less than #100,000.
If no strong and consistent move is made to obviate this perpetual subversion, we may continue like this; meaning tht, comes next session, we should be expecting something worse.
Of the greatest Nigerian students! This is our life & nobody is going to live it for us, no book, no guru; let us learn from ourselves about our ourselves.
The STUFESS should have the backings of we the followers, at least they are not fighting their selfish course, but that fof everybobody. Dont forget that the fee increases annually. let us speak with one voice. Let us all stand firm against this act of HEARTLESSNESS.
May we walk walk & neva stumble
May we run run & neva fall
May we fly fly & neva crash
May we swim swim & neva drown
Long live STUFESS
Long live Greatest Nigerian Students
Long live FSS
Long live Federal Republic of Nigeria.

So God help us.
I was admitted at F.S.S.OYO recently, but i am most disappointed at the hike in school fees especially considering the economic situation in the country now. Also with the new school fees, it might be very difficult for those sponsoring them selves in school. The new school fees really is high compared to other Federal Institutions. I urge the S.U.G. executive to press on for further reduction...Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI urge the entire SUG executive not to silenced on this matter #WE NO GO GREE FOR THIS PAYMENT
